About

studio CALE is an emerging Italian firm established in 2022 by architects Carla Gambioli and Alessia Romani. Its design is inspired by the cultural heritage of Montefeltro, the area of the Marche region that was the cradle of the Renaissance (with Florence). The Cale collection – Cale is the ancient name of the town of Cagli – includes items that celebrate the area’s architecture (tiles), gestures (truffle shaving), techniques (art of inlay), and creation of a new vision of the world (perspective).

studio CALE designs furnishings and accessories blending science and creativity, aesthetics and ethics, and blurring the lines between disciplines with contaminations, ancient knowledge, and innovation. A vision where the variation of the proportion rule – always recognisable – is represented by the dance of shadow and light unveiling the passing of time.

The CALE collection comprises high-quality, high-value products made to last over time. Every design experiments with intimacy, sometimes concealing and protecting and other times revealing, depending on the function and moment.

Intarsio

Intarsio is a solid American walnut wood desk and a celebration of the art of inlay.

It’s a monumental block of wood from which the artisan carved out four seats that become like pieces of a puzzle. The desk changes its appearance depending on how the seats are combined.

Corte

Is a metal valet tray with a steel or brushed brass finish designed to store your carry essentials and simplify your routine when you get back home.

Its structure featuring voids where to keep your everyday items draws inspiration from perspective construction and local architectural elements, like crenels.

Platonico

Is a truffle shaver that pays tribute to one of Montefeltro’s most prized culinary delicacies.

This gem-shaped object comes in three finishes: wenge, oak, and 3D-printed transparent resin.
